BBC Radio: Sherlock Holmes
May. 20th, 2013 04:51 pmIf you guys haven't had the chance to listen to the BBC's late 80s-90s dramatizations of Sherlock Holmes stories, you are ABSOLUTELY missing out.
So far, this is my favorite of the Holmes' adaptations (past or present) because this Sherlock (as adapted by Bert Coules and played by the GENIUS Clive Merrison) has so much LIFE. I've never liked a Sherlock as much as I like this one: he's just the right balance of an asshole while being lovably batshit. It might have something to do with that maniacal laugh he's got. Also, his voice is just so....particular. It snakes into your head and can even give you goosebumps and holy crap, it's just SO. GOOD.
Also, Michael William's Dr Watson is just hystertical. I get a little annoyed (as I do with most Watsons) for being just a little too...well too much in awe of Holmes, but the notes of honest exasperation are great, and I can't wait to hear more. This dude was married for 30 years to Dame Judi Dench, and so he's awesome in my book.

LISTEN NAUUUUUUUUU.
