amaliakJust, fyi, this was me all through last night:
And mind you, these are just initial feelings. Because i'm sure there will be more in the comingmonths years before the next season.
Let's talk about the things I appreciate:
-Steve Thompson wrote this episode (he also wrote DW "Curse of the Black Spot") and it was done BRILLIANTLY. Hats off, mate. Seriously. Way to go.
-Molly Hopper. More than anything else in the world. Because she MATTERS. And was the most important piece of all of this. And I love how Moriarty forgot her, but she was Sherlock's first thought. And in spite of everything, she's helping without question ("what do you need?")
-Jim Moriarty. For being bat shit crazy and still likable. HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS GUYS LIKEABLE????? And also, I kind of admire his genius. Because he really is a genius and so...WOW. Richard Brook, kid's storyteller? INSPIRED. Well and truly inspired.
-Anderson. I missed your stupid face. I really did.
-Lestrade. For being just the upstanding guy he's always been.
-Mark Gatiss/Mycroft (because I believe they are the same person). YOUR FLAWLESS FACE. I CANNOT HANDLE YOU. You are underrated as an actor my friend, because that was AMAZING.
-DOCTOR JOHN WATSON. Martin Freeman deserves ALL THE FRAKKING BAFTAS for this performance, I'm not even kidding. Let's not forget that he never, NEVER had a single doubt in his mind about Sherlock, despite all the evidence that was being placed at his feet and even Sherlock TELLING HIM. He REFUSED to believe it for a minute. Also, the line, the small line: "I was so alone." GUTTED. It was PERFECT because that's the whole thing about them right there: they were both just so alone. And now (he thinks) he's still alone. You know, a lot of people (tumblr) go on and on about John/Sherlock as a romantic relationship, but can I just say that I am a big believer in platonic love? The love that you can have for a friend, something that runs just as deep and just as strong and just as long as a lover? Sometimes, even more so than a lover. This is what's between them. It's deep deep love and respect. I just.....I think I'm going to cry again.

-BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH. If you don't win ALL THE AWARDS for this performance, there is no justice in the world. As a character, Sherlock proved that he really does have a heart (a rather large one, at that) and he would do whatever he needs to do to protect those that he loves. Because he does. He really really really does. And THAT'S what makes him special, that's what makes him completely unique. Because he's proved that he has the capability to be just as bad as Moriarty and that he's not a hero or an angel, but he chooses do what's right. Because THAT'S who he is. And I just love him for it I really really really do.
Even here, where he knew he had to make his best friend believe he was dead by making sure John had a concussion ("stay right there, John") when he saw the body (which was totally Moriarty's). It's just.....HEARTBREAK.
COMPLETE AND TOTAL HEARTBREAK.
Also, I would love to see Sherlock on an episode of L&O: UK.
AND HERE'S MY HEAD!CANON: Molly helped get him out and "be dead", Irene is helping him lay low, and Sherlock might discover tumblr. Somehow, he'll help John. GAH. I NEED FANFIC. RFN.

In other news, last night George Clooney made it clear that Fassy can golf without his hands on live national television. Thanks for that. And also, Benedict will be starting today his work here in Los Angeles for Star Trek.

I'm going to "casually" have lunch in Burbank/Glendale for the next six months. You know. Just in case.
